The Opportunity

The Site Reliability Engineer II builds and maintains infrastructure that enables SoundHound AI to deliver technology globally. The SRE team provides global infrastructure to reach millions of users, with automation at the core of all systems and processes. This role supports the company’s mission by ensuring reliable, scalable, and observable services, directly impacting the organization’s ability to deliver innovative solutions at scale.

What You'll Do

  • Builds software and systems for cloud infrastructure management and automation, primarily in Microsoft Azure (Ansible, Terraform).
  • Participates in developing frameworks for application deployment, customization, and upgrades (Kubernetes, ArgoCD, GitLab, Jenkins).
  • Improves observability, implements and measures key metrics, and defines SLOs/SLAs (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
  • Collaborates with multi-functional teams across global offices to architect and build reliable and scalable services.
  • Supports traditional IT operational needs for the Beijing office, including firewall management, Wi-Fi maintenance, and email server administration.
  • Participates in the on-call rotation (follow-the-sun model).

What You'll Bring

  • Holds a minimum of 4 years of experience working as a Site Reliability Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Possesses an MS or Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Demonstrates experience managing and automating infrastructure in a cloud environment, with hands-on Azure experience.
  • Applies in-depth knowledge of container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Demonstrates technical expertise with tools used for observability, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD.
  • Solves complex Linux system and network-level issues.
  • Writes quality Python code and uses GitOps practices.
  • Performs traditional IT operations such as firewall administration, wireless network management, or mail server maintenance.
  • Communicates fluently in Mandarin and demonstrates strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Applies a pragmatic, problem-solving, and critical-thinking mindset.
  • Works with a microservices architecture in a highly available, large-scale infrastructure focused on reliability and observability.
  • Demonstrates experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, or GCP in addition to Azure.

Workplace & Compensation

This role is available in China. Our recruiting team will provide a total compensation range based on location and years of experience.
