The Stratospheric ISR business unit within Ondas Sentinel is focused on one of the most unique mission areas in aerospace and defense: manufacturing and operating high-altitude stratospheric balloon systems. Few companies in the world can do this work at operational scale. That means our teams are not simply maintaining existing systems; they are building new capabilities, solving first-of-their-kind challenges, and helping define what persistent.

Job Description

The Product Engineering Technician will support the execution of continuous improvement projects, production infrastructure upgrades, equipment modifications, and other initiatives designed to increase operational capacity, efficiency, and throughput.

The ideal candidate is a versatile technician and fabricator who can move comfortably between engineering projects and hands-on production support. For the first 6–8 months, the primary focus will be supporting operational capacity and infrastructure improvements for the balloon farm. Following that effort, the role will transition toward major equipment upgrades and execution of continuous improvement initiatives planned through 2027.

This is a highly autonomous, execution-focused role for someone who enjoys solving practical problems, building things, improving processes, and working across multiple functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute continuous improvement projects developed by the Product Engineering team.
• Build, modify, install, and improve production equipment, fixtures, tooling, workstations, and infrastructure.
• Support upgrades to production tables and other equipment identified within the approved capital expenditure plan.
• Translate engineering concepts and improvement plans into practical, working solutions on the production floor.
• Identify opportunities to improve throughput, ergonomics, quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
• Assist with installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and modification of new and existing equipment.
• Work closely with engineers, technicians, operators, and manufacturing leadership to implement improvements.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a hands-on technical, manufacturing, fabrication, engineering technician, maintenance, or similar role.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
• Experience using common hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, work instructions, and technical documentation.
• Experience building, modifying, troubleshooting, or installing equipment or mechanical systems.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Willingness and ability to perform hands-on work in a production environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, or similar operational improvement methodologies.
• Fabrication experience, including machining, welding, sheet metal, composites, or structural assembly.
• Experience with production equipment, fixtures, tooling, or workstation design.
• Experience working in aerospace, aviation, manufacturing, or other highly regulated technical environments.
• Basic electrical or avionics troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with CAD drawings or engineering documentation.
• Experience supporting test or launch operations.
• Ability to operate a variety of shop and production equipment.
• Experience working on projects from concept through installation and implementation..
