We work with American communities to design, finance, and construct open access fiber-optic networks. These networks are critical to secure internet access that’s fast, affordable, and fair. As open access networks, this infrastructure is also the essential foundation for distributed healthcare services, new wireless solutions, and resilient infrastructure including modernized water systems and responsible energy creation. Our first two projects are in Colorado Springs and Fountain, Colorado.
About this Position
As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Billing Manager to join our team and lead our billing operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. This includes a rollout of our new billing system, Zuora, and building a team of exceptional billing professionals over time. Experience with Zuora and billing processes/procedures is a must and experience in the telecommunications industry is a plus.

What you'd be doing:
- Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to the billing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
- Billing Operations: Oversee the end-to-end billing process in the Zuora platform, including invoicing, billing adjustments, and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Revenue Assurance: Implement and maintain robust controls to safeguard revenue streams and mitigate revenue leakage.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to billing practices and revenue recognition.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation to enhance efficiency and scalability of billing operations.
- Customer Experience: Collaborate with customer service teams to address billing inquiries and resolve billing-related issues in a timely and customer-centric manner.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with finance, IT, and other departments to align billing processes with overall business objectives and systems integration efforts.
- Reporting and Analysis: Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track billing performance and provide insights for decision-making.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers involved in billing operations, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and contractual obligations.
Experience we require:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in billing operations, preferably in the telecommunications industry.
- Proven leadership experience, with a track record of building and developing high-performing and lean teams.
- Extensive experience with Zuora’s billing software.
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and drive actionable insights.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and implement best practices to optimize billing operations.
- Proficiency in billing software and ERP systems; experience with NetSuite Oracle, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Certification in billing or revenue management (e.g., Certified Billing and Collections Management Professional) is desirable.
