What You’ll Do:

What you’ll do:

  • Operational management of the path lab, including staff scheduling, prioritizing workflows, quality and compliance oversight and managing needs of a growing lab.

  • Hiring, training, annual reviews, recognition, coaching, and corrective action for the histology team.

  • New and existing histotechs training and proficiency testing.

  • Audit LIMS reports daily to ensure all samples are processed in appropriate time frame and with high degree of accuracy.

  • Equipment operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and appropriate documentation of activities.

  • Identify and document occurrences that deviate from defined procedures.

  • Investigate and resolve all incident reports.

  • Ensure inventory is appropriately stocked and organized.

  • Maintain clinical skills and competencies to assist histotechnologists as needed.

  • Optimize and Validate all new antibodies for the immunohistochemistry staining platforms.

Qualifications:

Must have:

  • A valid certification in the field of Histotechnology, and at least 5 years experience in the field including: cutting (fresh and fixed samples), staining (H&E and IHC), processing, embedding, and immunohistochemistry validation.

  • Completed a college degree with at least 60 total semester hours 12 coming from biology and chemistry.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to delegate tasks to others

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work with others to plan and carry out daily tasks

  • Self-driven and works well in an interdisciplinary team with minimal direction

  • Strong desire to build products that will save lives and change the course of cancer

  • Impeccable attention to detail

  • Strong problem solving skills including the ability to focus on a problem, using technical knowledge and company policies to arrive at a timely solution

  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical individuals

  • Ability to handle continual change and potentially stressful situations

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience with validating immunohistochemistry protocols

  • Experience supervising others

  • Work in a CLIA/CAP high-complexity laboratory

  • Experience writing, revising, and evaluating standard operating procedures

  • Knowledge of troubleshooting all laboratory equipment

  • Knowledge of LIMS platforms and various computer systems
