Description

The Corporate Counsel, Ethics & Compliance role will help develop and implement the company’s compliance program, working closely with other cross functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Billing and Finance to develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive compliance program. You will provide compliance advice and counseling relevant to the development and commercialization of novel healthcare products and services as well as helping to promote an enterprise-wide culture of compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and counseling to colleagues across Tempus on ethics and compliance matters, including laws and regulations related to the healthcare industry.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement compliance programs, policies, and procedures that align with industry standards and best practices.
  • Provide training and education to colleagues on ethics and compliance matters.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes on relevant laws and regulations, and provide compliance recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor and report on compliance issues and trends and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Coordinate Tempus’ international third-party (intermediary) due diligence program, including providing legal advice as to specific due diligence issues.
  • Coordinate the investigation of and response to alleged violations of applicable laws, regulations and company policies.

Your background

  • Law Degree from a recognized institution and active bar membership.
  • At least 4 years of relevant healthcare legal experience at an established law firm or an in-house role.
  • In-depth knowledge of laws and regulations related to the healthcare industry, including the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute, the Stark Law, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
  • Familiar with DOJ and HHS OIG guidelines regarding compliance program expectations and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Experience with compliance risk assessments and monitoring.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
