We are looking for a R&D Senior Scientist to support the development of new assays for deployment in our CAP/CLIA accredited clinical labs and to further support NYSDOH and IVD product development.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the development of cutting-edge molecular assays for our high-throughput CAP/CLIA/NYSDOH accredited clinical lab
  • Lead validation team from project inception through launch including sample selection, hands-on laboratory validation, establishing workflow and SOPs, and authoring validation plans and summaries
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members from technology, bioinformatics, quality control, regulatory affairs, and the clinical lab.
  • Train clinical staff in new assay workflows
  • Conduct troubleshooting and quality control initiatives
  • Assist with the development of automated processes
  • Provide flexible support for other activities in the clinical Next Generation Sequencing lab, including emerging technology assessment, LIMS consulting, instrument troubleshooting, etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD with 1-3 years experience in molecular techniques, Master’s degree with 5+ years experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years experience in molecular techniques
  • Experience with NGS library preparation
  • Highly organized and systematic, superb attention to detail, and ability to complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy
  • Proven ability to learn new skills quickly and adapt to new processes smoothly

Highly Desirable:

  • Previous assay development and/or validation experience
  • Knowledge of CAP/CLIA, NYSDOH, and IVD requirements
  • Experience with robotics and automated liquid handling systems
  • Knowledge of LIMS platforms and various computer systems
