Responsibilities:

• Optimize and develop custom NGS workflows for challenging projects, including:
• Sample preparation and nucleic acid isolations from biospecimens of limited quantities and/or degraded biospecimens
• Custom library preparation and enrichment processes
• Branched workflows and multiomic analysis
• Review individual client needs / project objectives and establish a scientific approach to best meet the desired outcomes
• Manage all studies, design/development, and test execution within assigned projects
• Collaborate with Tempus-wide NGS product development and R&D groups including troubleshooting, emerging technology assessment, etc.
• Mentor and direct junior scientific laboratory staff

Qualifications:

• Previous molecular assay development and validation experience
• Experience in nucleic acid isolation from various biospecimen types
• Experience in various NGS library preparation methods
• Understanding of NGS data products and the ability to collaborate with BI analysts
• Highly organized and systematic, superb attention to detail and ability to complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy
• Ability to learn new skills quickly and adapt to new processes smoothly
• Ph.D. and or a M.S. 5+ years experience in molecular assay development required
