Job Summary:
We are seeking a Maintenance E&I Technician for our Holt, MI facility. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have 3–4 years of experience in electronics, sensors, and electrical troubleshooting, with expertise in both electrical and instrumentation work.
The E&I Technician will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of machinery and equipment. Responsibilities include performing routine maintenance on sophisticated systems, diagnosing faults, and addressing machine failures. This position also involves collaborating with the Maintenance Manager and Engineering team to plan and schedule equipment downtime, while maintaining detailed documentation of maintenance activities. Compensation and benefits for this role are competitive and commensurate with experience level.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, test, and calibrate instrumentation and control systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical components such as motors, drives, and wiring systems.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
- Work with PLCs, HMIs, and other control systems to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, electrical codes, and company policies.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections in CMMS.
- Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation, including analytical, flow, pressure, and level transmitters.
- Support commissioning activities and integrate new systems into existing infrastructure.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager and Engineering to plan and document equipment downtime.
- Assist with the design and implementation of electrical and instrumentation projects.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and test instruments (multimeters, calibrators, etc.).
- Strong understanding of motor control circuits and PLC ladder logic.
- Familiarity with local, state, and national electrical codes.
- Ability to disassemble and assemble gearboxes and pumps, including alignment assessments.
- Knowledge of safety protocols, including lock-out/tag-out and confined space standards.
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
Experience Requirements:
- 3–4 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation roles.
- Hands-on experience with industrial process equipment and systems, including PLCs, VFDs, and DCS.
- Familiarity with extrusion or lamination machines or similar manufacturing processes.
Education and Certifications:
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications preferred.
- Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting and programming.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for 10–12 hours.
- Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and climb while performing repetitive tasks.
- Tolerance for working in hot and cold environments.
- Ability to wear PPE for entire shifts and respond to sensory alerts.
