Job Description:

We are seeking a Maintenance E&I Lead Technician who is responsible for leading and supervising the maintenance E&I Technicians with troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems in industrial or manufacturing environments. This role is critical for ensuring the smooth operation and reliability of complex systems in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coaching and Guidance: Leading a team of E&I Technicians, assigning tasks, and ensuring maintenance schedules are followed.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implementing preventive maintenance plans to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnosing and resolving electrical and instrumentation issues in equipment and control systems.
  • Compliance: Ensuring all work complies with safety standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Technical Support: Providing expertise and guidance on electrical and instrumentation systems, including PLC’s, HMI’s, sensors, and motor control systems.
  • Documentation: Maintaining records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and any modifications made.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities to improve system reliability, efficiency, and safety.
  • Installation/upfits of equipment: Working with corporate controls/reliability team to build and install new or upgrades to equipment

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Experience with PLC’s, AB drives, DCS, SCADA systems and related software.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards and regulations.
  • Understand local, state, and national electrical codes.
  • Ability to disassemble and assemble gearboxes and pumps.
  • Ability to identify and measure critical tolerances or dimensions.
  • Ability to know when gearboxes and pumps need alignment.
  • Ability to work cohesively with other team members, and to contribute positively to the work environment.

Experience:

  • Experience with extrusion or lamination machines or comparable manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with industrial process equipment and instrumentation.
  • Familiar with PLC ladder logic and editing.
  • 5+ years on hands-on experience in electrical and instrumentation roles.
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes, PLCs, VFDs, and DCS systems.
  • Competence in the use of test instruments such as multimeters, calibrators, and loop testers.

Education and Certifications:

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
  • HS diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and programming.
  • Familiarity with control systems, field instrumentation, and motor controls.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, safety conscious environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Be on your feet for 10-12 hours
  • Able to lift 40 pounds unassisted.
  • Able to reach, bend, kneel and climb while performing repetitive tasks
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments
  • Able to correctly wear PPE for entire shifts
  • Able to react and respond quickly to noises, smells, visual hazards, and alerts
