TemperPack is a rapidly growing company based in Richmond, Virginia. We design and manufacture innovative, sustainable packaging components for cold-chain shipping of food and pharmaceutical products. The markets we serve have an urgent need for disruptive, sustainable alternatives to replace the wide array of non-sustainable packaging materials conventionally used in the cold-chain such as Styrofoam coolers. Our aspiration is to provide packaging solutions that customers and end-consumers feel great about using.

Role Summary:

TemperPack’s Packaging Engineering team in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a Sample Technician. This role will collaborate with the Sales, R&D and Packaging Engineering teams to provide stakeholders with high quality prototypes of TemperPack’s current and future products. The delivered prototypes will be used by the Sales team to show to prospective customers and by the R&D/Packaging Engineering team to evaluate thermal properties of the product. In both instances, well-constructed and aesthetically pleasing prototypes are required daily to ensure TemperPack is able to sustain its unprecedented company growth.

This role will also flex to other tasks within Packaging Engineering as needed. TemperPack moves quicker than most companies. The ideal candidate enjoys a fast-paced environment and can shift efforts quickly as needs change.

Major Responsibilities:

· Construct and ship product samples to prospective customers & for internal testing

· Provide basic designs of corrugated inserts for customer samples

· Provide packaging support to Sales, Sales Engineering, and Packaging Engineering groups.

· Assist Engineers in performing thermal testing

· Maintain an orderly, well stocked work environment

· Assist Engineers with process improvement initiatives

· Work with production to gather materials for samples/testing

· Lift and carry up to 50lbs

· Other lab duties as dictated by business needs

Qualifications

Experience and Education:

· High School degree or GED

Knowledge and Skills

· Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.)

· Critical eye to spot any defects before a prototype is sent out to customers

· For safety purposes, must be able to verbally communicate and understand English.

· Demonstrated ability to work with others and as part of a team

· Ability to learn new skills

· Ability to work well under pressure and work with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines

· Ability to wear PPEs such as, but not limited to, safety glasses, ear plugs, closed toed shoes for extended periods of time

· Ability to contribute positively to an engaging and positive work environment.

· Ability to use basic hand tools such as a wrench, screwdriver, etc.

· Ability and willingness to use basic power tools such as a drill, driver, band saw, etc.

· Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.

Physical Requirements

Be on your feet for up to 8 hours

Able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Able to reach, bend, kneel and climb while performing repetitive tasks

Ability to work in hot and cold environments

Able to correctly wear PPE for entire shifts

Able to react and respond quickly to noises, smells, visual hazards, and alerts
