This is a remote, contract role with an estimated workload of 20-30 hours per week. Talkspace Headquarters is located in NYC.
What You’ll Do
The Research Project Manager will develop policies and procedures, oversee various research initiatives, ensure compliance, and be the bridge for many internal teams and external partners. You're someone who can seamlessly coordinate with multifaceted teams, collaborating across various moving parts with ease and kindness.
Develop and Maintain Policies and Procedures
- Track and monitor all deliverables and deadlines relating to NIH and Pilot Studies
- Develop and drive the program strategy, approach, implementation methodology, materials, and support for all studies.
- Stay current with latest and best practices for administering study protocols, and help prepare for new protocols in development.
- Assist in the preparation of grant documents, applications, IRB protocols, grant reports, construction of tables and figures, and presentation information
- Oversee regulatory compliance issues such as tracking and recording protocol-specific certifications and procedure certifications such as Human Subject Protection and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and record Institutional Review Board approvals, etc.
- Supervise the data collection and management efforts, ensuring project’s statistical and data management reports are generated and distributed in a timely fashion
Liaise with Study Participants and Therapists
- Be the bridge between participants and study therapists: tracking incoming research participants and matching them with the appropriate therapist or research arm.
- Ensure selected participants meet participation criteria and coordinate all therapist protocol + procedure training sessions
- Be the primary point of communication: answering any therapist questions, alerting therapists to newly assigned study clients, reminding therapists about study parameters, ensuring treatment is unfolding according to assignment arms
- Monitor research participants' activity and ensure the completion of all necessary measures, updating academic partners on ongoing progress.
- Manage all reimbursements: submitting reports to the Comptroller and ensuring timely payments to study clients and therapists as part of the study's incentive operations.
Provide Organizational Leadership
- Develop a project management system to track duties and hours of Research Assistants
- Manage time of Research Assistants, optimizing their fulfillment of grant requirements, deadlines, and project deliverables
- Coordinate activities between research partners, company data science personnel, and product engineers to produce valuable and accurate data, measurements, and analytics.
- Translate research projects and publications into compelling narratives for the marketing team, so they can best promote Clinical R&D
Conduct Translational Research
- Actively contribute to scientific and clinical community conferences and proceedings to professionalize and promote the platform as an evidence-based, accessible, and responsible approach to delivering care. (Publications in professional and scientific journals are a big plus!)
- Build a knowledge base on key topics of interest and importance to future research and product efforts at Talkspace (e.g., natural language processing, text-based therapy outcomes, mechanisms of behavior change) for use in future reviews
- Design features and/or experiments with measurable KPIs to gauge impact/success of product enhancements or clinical programs provided to therapists or to patients/clients.
- Act as Honest Broker for all sensitive data transfers
Additional duties as assigned
About You
- Degree in a relevant field such as psychology, neuroscience, public health, or a related discipline
- Strong interest in mental health research and a desire to contribute to innovative projects
- Experience in managing research projects, preferably in a healthcare or academic setting (grant writing and management is a huge plus!)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in SQL, and Python or R.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and ethical guidelines in research (e.g., IRB, HIPAA)
Compensation
At Talkspace, we believe that pay transparency during the interview process is a critical part of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our salary bands are based on internal and external compensation benchmarks, which we regularly evaluate to ensure we pay competitively.
The hourly compensation rate for this role is between $35 - $40/hour. Within the salary bands, leveling corresponds to each candidate’s relevant experience, skills as assessed during the interview process, education, and applicable certifications.
