The People Specialist will support the ongoing operations of the Field People Team, primarily focused on the administration of the systems and processes that support a 5-star experience in our restaurants and for our employees and leaders. A successful candidate will be passionate about creating a positive work environment and excited about the prospect of bringing it to life in our people and learning systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Field People team, including receiving and resolving tickets related to employee relations, compensation, compliance (I9, Fair Workweek), transfers, training, promotions and terminations
  • Support the administration of People Business Partner systems and tools including; Regional People Planners (ChartHop), AllVoices (ER Platform), sg People Support (ZenDesk), Audit Reporting (Zenput)
  • Build and maintain a knowledge base of known issues and resolutions to enable faster resolution of repeat issues
  • Focus on one of the following three rotations, to grow your knowledge and skillset in the HR space:

ER Rotation

  • Provide excellent, daily customer service to employees and managers when assisting with People-related questions or issues
  • Support employee relations investigations and requests from the legal team by conducting interview and research, organizing investigation data, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and drafting reports
  • Analyze trends in employee relations issues to identify opportunities for improvement, build preventative measures, and propose new initiatives to enhance the employee experience
  • Escalate complex issues to the appropriate teams and follow up through resolution
  • Support Field Leaders in understanding and using our progressive Employee Performance Coaching Matrix
  • Review and approve involuntary termination requests to ensure fair and equitable employment practices
  • Act as a thought leader to People Business Partners on coaching employees, disciplinary actions, and performance management to ensure consistency across the company.

Learning Support Rotation

  • Provide excellent, daily customer service to employees and managers when assisting with Learning-related questions or issues
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Field Learning team, including the administration of the Certified Trainer, Certified Training Restaurant and Coach-in-Training programs
  • Support the administration of the Field Learning team systems and tools including; Wisetail (LMS), Training Completion Reporting, Field Leadership Training Calendar and Source Doc (Training Tracker)
  • Facilitate travel arrangements for our new market leaders while they are in training
  • Monitor and track feedback from training programs and classes
  • Facilitate training classes; Coach In Training, Sweet Start, Train-the-Trainer, etc.
  • Support the onboarding of new Certified Training Restaurants and Training Restaurant Head Coaches

Compliance Rotation

  • Provide excellent, daily customer service to employees and managers when assisting with Compliance-related questions or issues
  • Build and deploy weekly Fair Workweek and Meal + Rest Break Penalty Reports for Field Leadership and the Executive Team
  • Facilitate Fair Workweek Training Classes and provide ongoing training support to field leadership as needed
  • Support the execution of Quarterly Fair Workweek Audits
  • Support in conducting weekly Fair Workweek reviews with outlier locations
  • Is a subject matter expert on FWW for all supported regions, and maintains awareness of the policy landscape and make recommendations around potential impact to sg process

What You’ll Bring to the Table

  • 3+ years with HR experience in a restaurant environment
  • Knowledge of retail systems and tools (Labor Management, POS, Security Camera, LMS)
  • Knowledge of retail scheduling practices, FWW a plus
  • Ability to understand organization’s learning policy and goals
  • Strong business communication skills that make learning easy for employees to access
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills
  • Strong project management, planning, organizing, and execution skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred in education, organizational development, human resources or a related discipline
  • Passion for sweetgreen’s food and mission
  • Fluent in Spanish or French a plus
  • Role requires up to 25% Travel Time

Salary range for this role:
Starting salary range based on experience
$70,000$90,000 USD
