The Role:


As Senior Accounting Manager you’ll manage a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies and external audits. You will initially manage the Accounts Payable function, own multiple process streams, and lead the monthly closing of accounts and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements. You’ll become a subject matter expert by processing transactions, reconciling results, creating standard operating procedures (SOP), and training cross-functionally, making each process stream repeatable and easy to transition as we grow the business and our team. The Senior Accounting Manager reports to the Corporate Controller and works closely with the Director of Finance Systems & Reporting, the Finance team, and others in the organization in analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all transactions are properly recorded, preparing and reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations, analytics, and report preparation
  • Participate in and advise on the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes
  • Continuous improvement mentality for system efficiencies and business practices
  • Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX-ready environment
  • Interacts at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient and accurate month-end close and all internal management and financial reporting
  • Analyze the effect of statutory accounting practices and studies regulations and guidance to ensure correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud
  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance
  • Assist with compilation of information for preparation of tax returns
  • Manage AP team to OKRs and actively help with their development

Senior Accounting Manager top skills & proficiencies:

  • Corporate accounting experience with demonstrated advancement in responsibilities required
  • CPA with public accounting audit experience required
  • NetSuite/ERP system experience preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivots

Requirements:

  • BS degree in Accounting or related degree required
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • CPA or MBA is a plus
  • Experience with strategic projects and analysis of very large, complex sets of data.
  • Experience in the food manufacturing industry preferred
  • Strong work ethic and utmost integrity
  • Ability to use mathematical and statistical knowledge to assess data and determine process capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to simplify and explain complex accounting guidance across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong leadership skills, with an ability to build trust, provide direction, and vitality to execute with excellence and achieve extraordinary results.

Compensation: Range for this role is $119,000 to $145,000 including a potential annual bonus and equity. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
