Position Overview:
As we expand, we're looking for an experienced Enterprise IT Network Administrator to manage, maintain, and enhance the company's enterprise network infrastructure and IT systems. This role will be responsible for ensuring the availability, security, and performance of corporate networks, servers, cloud-connected environments, and enterprise services that support business operations and engineering teams.
The ideal candidate combines strong networking expertise with systems administration experience and a security-first mindset. This individual will play a key role in supporting a growing organization operating in a highly regulated and mission-critical environment, including environments subject to CMMC Level 2 and NIST 800-171 cybersecurity requirements.
Location:
Onsite, Syracuse, NY – This role requires frequent travel to multiple locations in the Syracuse area.
Responsibilities:
Network Administration & Operations
- Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN, and Internet connectivity.
- Administer and support network hardware including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity; proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Manage network segmentation, VLANs, routing, switching, and access control policies.
- Support multi-site connectivity and remote workforce infrastructure.
- Assist in designing and maintaining secure network architectures that support compliance with CMMC Level 2 and NIST 800-171 requirements.
Systems & Infrastructure Administration
- Administer Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related services.
- Support virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Manage enterprise storage, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
- Maintain endpoint management platforms and systems lifecycle processes.
- Support cloud-integrated services including Microsoft 365, Azure, and related technologies.
- Implement and maintain system configurations that align with security baselines and compliance requirements.
Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain security controls aligned with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Manage firewalls, VPNs, endpoint security solutions, and identity management systems.
- Participate in vulnerability management, patching, incident response, and remediation activities.
- Assist with audits, documentation, and compliance initiatives related to defense industry requirements.
- Monitor and investigate security alerts and suspicious activity.
- Support the organization's CMMC Level 2 compliance efforts, including implementation and maintenance of controls aligned with NIST SP 800-171.
- Assist with System Security Plan (SSP) documentation, Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M), evidence collection, and assessment readiness activities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure systems handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) meet applicable security requirements.
User & Technical Support
- Provide Tier II/III support for complex network and infrastructure issues.
- Collaborate with Help Desk and engineering teams to resolve escalated technical problems.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and architecture diagrams.
- Participate in after-hours maintenance activities and on-call support as needed.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 8+ years of experience administering enterprise networks and infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and wireless technologies.
- Experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft enterprise environments.
- Experience managing firewalls and network security solutions.
- Proficiency with network monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with NIST SP 800-171 requirements and cybersecurity controls within regulated or defense-related environments.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting organizations in defense, aerospace, manufacturing, or regulated industries.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, Intune, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Familiarity with Linux systems administration.
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V).
- Working knowledge of CMMC Level 2 requirements and experience supporting compliance initiatives.
- Knowledge of NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, CMMC, or similar cybersecurity frameworks.
- Experience supporting environments that process, store, or transmit Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
- Relevant certifications such as:
- Cisco CCNA/CCNP
- CompTIA Network+
- CompTIA Security+
- Microsoft Certifications
- VMware Certifications
- Certified CMMC Professional (CCP) or similar cybersecurity/compliance certifications (Nice to Have)
Compensation and Benefits: Hidden Level offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid parental leave, flexible time off, 401(k) with employer contributions, life insurance, disability insurance, and potential stock options.
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is estimated at $88,000 to $113,000 annually. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Hidden Level considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
