Field Engineer – Service Operations

Position Overview:

As we expand, we're looking for a talented Field Engineer to support our Service Operations Team in the delivery of Hidden Level technology and capabilities.

Location:

Syracuse, NY (preferred). Fully remote candidates will also be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform site surveys and technical assessments to prepare for new installations and capability demonstrations.
  • Execute deployments of Hidden Level sensor networks and supporting infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues in the field.
  • Provide field support for customer demonstrations ensuring reliable system performance and clear communication of technical capabilities.
  • Coordinatelogisticsfor field activities, including equipment preparation, transport, and setup.
  • Document field work, test results, and issuesencountered; contribute to improving processes, procedures, and documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering and Product teams to improve product reliability and deployment efficiency.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders, including customer-facing troubleshooting.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 4+years of experience in field engineering, technical support, or systems deployment role
  • Experience troubleshooting integrated hardware and software systems in real-world environments
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (IP networking, routers, switches, basic configuration)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and system diagrams
  • Experience with command-line interfaces for system configuration and troubleshooting
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
  • Abilityand willingness to travel up to 75% domestically and internationally
  • This role may occasionally require flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Candidates must be able to adapt to changing schedules and be available to work as required by business needs
  • Active secret clearance or ability to obtain clearance within 6 months of employment

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

This position requires regular work in outdoor and field environments in varying weather conditions and terrain. Candidates must be able to safely lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds, load and unload gear, and perform tasks that may involve standing, walking, climbing, bending, and working for extended periods in remote or industrial environments. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience deploying or supporting sensor systems, RF systems, or distributed networked systems
  • Familiarity with drone/UAS technologies, airspace awareness systems, or defense-related applications
  • Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., Python, Bash) for troubleshooting or system configuration
  • Knowledge of cloud-based systems, data pipelines, or remote monitoring tools
  • Prior experience supporting customer demonstrations or working in customer-facing technical roles
  • Experience working in startup or fast-paced, rapidly evolving environments
  • International field experience, including work in remote or austere environments

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is estimated at $90,800 to $113,500 annually. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Hidden Level considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
