Hermeus is an aerospace and defense technology company founded to radically accelerate air travel by delivering hypersonic aircraft. The company aims to develop hypersonic aircraft quickly and cost-effectively by integrating hardware-rich, iterative development with modern computing and autonomy. This approach has been validated through design, build, and test of the company’s first combined turbojet-ramjet engine and is now being scaled through its first flight vehicle program, Quarterhorse. Hermeus is also developing Darkhorse — an uncrewed hypersonic aircraft designed to deliver unique asymmetric capabilities to the warfighter.
We are looking for an Avionics Engineer, with a focus on instrumentation, to enable sensor data collection supporting flight critical and mission critical requirements. This position will require strong electrical fundamentals, wide-breadth design experience, and efficient troubleshooting skills. You’ll be responsible for high-ownership technical delivery while working with a multi-disciplinary team of engineering, manufacturing, and quality professionals.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 5+ years of schematic design, PCB layout, power electronics, and/or wiring diagram experience
  • Strong circuit troubleshooting skills
  • Experience in analog, high-speed digital, and/or RF design
  • Experience with sensor/actuator integration
  • Experience with Ethernet, 1553, CAN bus, RS-485/422/232, and other digital communications
  • Experience creating technical drawings and documentation
  • Experience solving multidisciplinary problems with a team of diverse backgrounds
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask with little supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with simulation tools (LTSpice, HFSS, ADS)
  • Experience developing test stands, conducting test operations, and troubleshooting systems
  • Experience with analog sensors and high-performanceData Acquisition Systems
  • Proficient in soldering
