The Staff Accountant will play a vital role in the collaborative execution of the company's accounting operations. This individual will actively contribute to treasury operations, end-of-period closes, annual audit preparation, tax returns, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll. They will also participate in calculating tax estimates and payments, maintaining lease schedules, and other accounting activities.
In this role, the balance between teamwork and individual ownership is key.
Decide is seeking an individual who is motivated and excited to take on major projects against ambitious timelines. This role will report to the Director of Financial Operations and work closely with the Senior Accountant. The position is fully remote.
What you’ll do
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
- Produce monthly financial reports, ensuring that the reported results comply with GAAP and international financial reporting standards
- Aid in the production of the annual budget and forecasts; report significant budget differences to management
- Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
- Work with external auditors to provide data and prepare for the annual audit
- Work with external accountants to provide data for the annual tax returns
- Have knowledge of and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned
Your skills and experience should include
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration, plus a minimum of 1 year of related experience required (Master's degree in Accounting or Business Administration strongly preferred)
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation strongly preferred
- Thorough understanding of accounting practices and procedures and the ability to train others in related practices and procedures
- Proficiency in GSuite and similar software
- Proficiency in NetSuite or comparable ERP systems
- Strong collaboration skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication
- Intellectual curiosity and willingness to take on new skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Comfort in a remote-first environment that is highly adaptable and cross-functional
