Description:
Convene is seeking a seasoned Director of Acquisitions for Europe, with a primary focus on the Greater London market. Reporting directly to the Head of Real Estate and working closely with company executives, this London-based role will oversee all UK/Europe deal flow, fostering strong relationships within the landlord and brokerage communities.
The ideal candidate will be self-driven and skilled at sourcing and securing complex leases, managed service agreements, and joint venture structures. We expect the candidate to bring an existing network of landlord relationships, cultivate new contacts in the real estate world, and sell Convene as a unique opportunity for the landlord community. This role requires confidence in presenting potential deals to Convene’s internal investment committee and external Board of Directors, while also collaborating closely with the Design, Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams.
This position offers outstanding professional growth and the chance to partner with executive leadership at a dynamic, high-growth, venture-backed company. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in expanding our footprint in London, the broader UK, and Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transaction Management: Coordinate internal and external stakeholders on UK and European transactions, ensuring all efforts align with our ambitious growth goals.
- Deal Structuring: Structure economic terms of acquisitions to meet company underwriting standards, adjusting for market conditions to secure optimal outcomes.
- Pipeline Development: Organise and manage the pipeline of UK/Europe site opportunities, keeping track of in-process transactions and prioritising high-potential opportunities.
- Negotiation & Documentation: Negotiate favourable legal terms and oversee transaction documentation, ensuring all processes run smoothly and comply with relevant standards.
- Underwriting Support: Collaborate closely with the underwriting team to prepare investment memoranda for review, ensuring a comprehensive and compelling presentation for approval.
- Stakeholder Presentations: Present proposed transactions to the investment committee and board of directors, articulating key value drivers, risks, and market insights.
- Strategic Growth Contribution: Actively contribute to shaping the company’s long-term growth strategy for Europe, identifying emerging opportunities, supporting M&A, and flagging potential risks.
- Working with an Operating Business: Work collaboratively with the operating business to ensure deals are structured for long-term success, recognising that these agreements will significantly impact our team’s future operations and performance.
- Global Collaboration and Travel: Facilitate seamless collaboration with teams in the US, requiring regular travel and effective communication across multiple time zones
Skills and Requirements:
- 7-10 years of real estate experience, with expertise in transactions, leasing, acquisitions/dispositions, and strategic development; background in finance, legal, corporate real estate, or brokerage is an asset.
- Strong market knowledge and industry relationships, with proven results in deal sourcing, underwriting, and negotiation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, balancing strategic vision with tactical execution to advance growth strategies.
- Meticulous attention to detail, especially in reviewing complex leases and business documents to ensure accuracy, favourable terms, and compliance.
- Proficient at managing stakeholders and translating complex business needs into actionable real estate strategies.
- Clear communicator with strong writing and presentation skills, adept at crafting business cases for executive audiences.
- Proficient in Google Workspace, Excel, Argus, and creating high-impact presentation decks.
- Thrives in a dynamic, high-growth environment that demands agility, collaboration, and decisive action.
