Are you ready to help us design and build our LaserWeeder that solve real problems in our food supply?

As a Quality Engineer at Carbon Robotics, you will work from the Corporate office to support our production facilities. It will require a high level of autonomy to institute a quality system for this one-of-a-kind product. You’ll do whatever it takes - which might include travel - to ensure our customers have reliable and safe products.

What you’ll do:

  • Work on a team that’s building our revolutionary Laser Weeding products that are shipped around the world
  • Represents Carbon Robotics on moderately complex technical program and major issues both internally and externally with minimum supervision
  • Supports prototype manufacturing and build activities
  • Actively participates in continuous product improvements and innovation
  • Lead and coordinate activities with minimal guidance from Seattle, testing, plants, R&D, Program Management, Sales and Marketing as required
  • Leads the investigation and resolves complex components or multiple subsystems and/or assembly problems utilizing 8D’s, DOE’s and other problem-solving tools. This includes support of Six Sigma projects as required using DFSS tools.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to establish and optimize assembly processes, ensuring consistent quality and efficiency
  • Collaborate with product development - ensure product requirements are feasible, measurable, and have the appropriate controls in place
  • Evaluate potential new suppliers and their quality systems, which may include visiting their facilities.
  • Develop existing suppliers to drive quality improvements
  • Implement incoming inspection plans for purchased components
  • Build upon Carbon Robotics’ existing quality tools–PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA–and expand them
  • Write company-specific quality documents that supplement design engineering documentation.
  • Identifies and reports any problems relating to the product, process and quality system

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering or related field.
  • 2-5 years’ experience
  • Background in quality management systems (ISO 9001, TS16949)
  • Background in lean manufacturing and problem-solving disciplines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software products (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Willing to work flexible hours as needed

Carbon Robotics follows equitable hiring practices. Flexibility in our hiring process allows hiring of talent at levels different from what are posted. The compensation range outlined is based on a target budgeted base salary. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as relevant experience and skill, Interview assessments and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements. Offers are determined using our equitable hiring practices. Carbon Robotics offers additional compensation in the form of benefits premiums, pre-IPO stock options and On Target Earning commissions for appropriate positions. Base pay ranges are reviewed each year. We are committed to the principle of pay equity – paying employees equitably for similar work.

Carbon Robotics' base salary pay range:

$83,000—$128,099 USD

Commercial growers of specialty and organic crops buy LaserWeeders from Carbon Robotics because they reduce weed control costs by up to 80% and increase crop quality, yields, and consistency. High precision LaserWeeding is vastly superior to alternatives: labor intensive hand weeding, toxic herbicide spraying, and/or the disruptive mechanical cultivation of planted soil.

Today, Carbon Robotics LaserWeeder shoots and kills up to 200,000 weeds per hour, eliminating up to 99% of weeds, with sub-millimeter accuracy. Our AI/ML deep learning models identify a growing range of crops and weeds at all stages of growth - and our patented technology led only widens with more time, customers, and acres laserweeded.
