We are seeking a SOX Program Manager to build and maintain a thoughtful, effective SOX program for BigCommerce. Reporting to the Director, Technical Accounting, you will serve as the primary SOX point of contact within our Accounting team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Gain a thorough understanding of BigCommerce’s business processes to fully understand material risks in the process and the intricacies of the SOX controls that mitigate those risks
  • Build a risk-based approach SOX program for BigCommerce
  • Oversee the SOX program, from our guidance and methodology to the testing of controls, evaluating of control deficiencies, and reporting conclusions to executive leadership
  • Monitor SOX program activities and progress - engaging all lines of business internally and working with external auditors by taking a risk-based approach to effectively and efficiently complete the SOX program
  • Drive process and control changes, influencing process owners to make changes in the organization to gain efficiencies and improve the control environment and documentation
  • Continuously monitor changes in the external and internal environment to ensure internal controls adapt to those changes
  • Build strong relationships with SOX control leads, including multiple members of the business and IT functions, establishing yourself as a trusted advisor and SOX expert
  • Upskill our workforce through continuous learning, annual SOX training, and communication of regulatory changes and technology advancements

Who You Are:

  • High tolerance for ambiguity and strategic thinking
  • 5+ years of in-depth SOX controls experience working in public accounting (preferably Big 4) and/or at a public Company
  • Able to translate complex requirements into actionable recommendations that will be understood by team members with varying degrees of experience with SOX
  • Passion for continuous improvement of processes
  • Organizational, interpersonal, communication, project management skills
  • Effectively communicate with executive management and present to various stakeholders
  • Highly motivated, independent thinker and problem-solver with scalable detail orientation

Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range (or have the minimum apply to them), but rather, the exact salary will be dependent on the successful candidate’s location, relevant knowledge, skills, and qualifications.

$62,823$106,245 USD
