Lead Education Services Specialist, Developer

BigCommerce, named a 2022 "Best Place to Work" in several cities, is looking for a Lead Education Services Specialist, Developer. This is a person who thrives at solving problems and has an insatiable urge to teach and learn. Well respected by technical and non-technical individuals, this person is an influential leader, coach, manager and engineer and will rely on strong consultative skills to help our Enterprise customers during onboarding and throughout the customer lifecycle.

What You Will Do

  • Serve in the role of developer subject matter expert, assisting the Learning & Development team by providing technical expertise to create coursework appropriate for merchant and partner developers building on BigCommerce

  • Lead the Instructional Design and Education Services teams’ strategy with facilitating and building interactive developer lab activities, including dynamic code that integrates seamlessly with the BigCommerce platform

  • Deliver high quality, customized, developer training to our highest valued merchants and partners. This includes initial technical scoping, engaging with high level stakeholders from their entire organization (developers, operations, marketing, finance, sales), and detailed planning with BigCommerce experts from Product & Engineering, Professional Services, and Sales

  • Identify and translate merchant and partner needs into requirements for developer educational content that will enable efficient and effective builds on BigCommerce
  • Drive collaboration with solutions architects, support engineers, developer advocates, and product and engineering collecting feedback and needs to drive course, certification and training solutions

  • Work with external stakeholders including client partners, project managers, developers, technical partners and executives in Enterprise and Mid-Market client organizations to understand course requirements and assist in the development of L&D Developer Courses

  • Maintain strong working knowledge of released products and participate in pre-release activities, BETA programs, and ongoing improvement of L&D courses and course delivery

  • Understand how to conduct requirements, design, implementation, and operations phases of a project

  • Provide consultative expertise based on course and training requirements regarding available course offerings

  • Develop technical and architectural roadmaps and use them to proactively drive new & updated technology adoption for courses and trainers

  • Work with Global teams and subject matter experts as required

  • Analyze current trends in the eCommerce industry and the technology architecture field and provide recommendations and training

  • Perform other duties and assignments as required

Who You Are

  • 4+ years combined experience in software development, Enterprise customer service, content creation, development, or technical training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a technical discipline (e.g., engineering) or equivalent required
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages such Java, Node.JS, Angular, JSON, Ruby, Python, PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS

  • Understanding of the Stencil Framework and Handlebars programming language highly desirable

  • Strong understanding of code deployment and supporting tools like Github

  • Knowledge of BigCommerce API, RESTful APIs, and eCommerce

  • Familiar with the implementation of security standards in code such as OAuth, SAML, and other Tokenization and authentication methods and systems; understanding of security, SSO and federation technologies as applied cloud infrastructure.

  • Passion for creating and delivering training content that utilizes cutting-edge adult learning theory methodologies and best practices

  • Willingness to travel (50%) - Globally

Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range (or have the minimum apply to them), but rather, the exact salary will be dependent on the successful candidate’s location, relevant knowledge, skills, and qualifications.

$84,600$143,100 USD
