Full job description

Atomos Space is pioneering space logistics with our Orbital Transfer Vehicles (OTVs). Engineered for a diverse array of operations—such as satellite life extension, in-space transportation, and cargo delivery—our OTVs are setting new standards in space mobility and sustainability. With the backing of private investors and continuous support from government contracts, Atomos stands firmly at the forefront of space technology, driving innovation and ensuring a dynamic future for the space ecosystem.

Atomos seeks a procurement manager responsible for leading the planning and tracking of procurements for multiple programs. This position includes managing suppliers and overseeing inventory tracking for ground-based and space-flight hardware.

This position will require detailed knowledge of vendor and supply chain management. This position will report directly to the COO and will be performed in close coordination with the Atomos’s Program Manager. You will work closely with the Atomos vehicle subsystem teams to ensure the correct hardware is delivered and meets requirements to support the continued launch of OTVs.

Responsibilities

  • Work with technical and program teams to gather requirements for hardware and, if applicable, craft RFPs.
  • Work alongside company and program executives and internal stakeholders to define business processes as they relate to procurement.
  • Research and engage with prospective vendors and subcontractors to solicit proposals and/or commercial offerings.
  • Work with hardware and software vendors and subcontractors to ensure that hardware can be delivered on time and within budget.
  • Ensure delivery dates are aligned with internal need dates.
  • Coordinate and regularly communicate the status of open orders, expediting deliveries as necessary.
  • Negotiate payment terms and pricing with vendors.
  • Implement and execute vendor vetting; ensure internal understanding of vendor timelines, budgets, scope, processes, risks, and resources.
  • Manage the procurement process; oversee all purchase agreements and invoices and create purchase orders.
  • Establish relationships and build rapport with our suppliers, working with them to ensure prompt delivery and the best rates.
  • Integrate with the relevant internal product teams as the primary procurement point of contact.
  • Communicate internal hardware requirements to vendors and ensure delivered hardware meets the requirements.
  • Inventory tracking: support development, implementation, and upkeep of a database containing complete knowledge of all received hardware and future or active hardware allocations to various programs and projects.
  • Identify and improve organizational processes for vendor management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and education combination of 3+ years
  • Procurement and/or contract management experience
  • Negotiation experience
