Responsibilities
- Assist senior staff in maintaining reliable server, application, and cloud infrastructure performance.
- Support AWS environments including:
- EC2: Launching, monitoring, and basic administration of virtual machines.
- S3: Creating buckets, managing permissions, and monitoring storage usage.
- IAM: Adding and managing users, groups, and roles with appropriate policies.
- VPC: Understanding subnets, security groups, and basic routing concepts.
- CloudWatch: Monitoring performance metrics, setting up alerts, and reviewing logs.
- Route 53: Managing DNS records for internal and external services.
- AWS Backup: Assisting with configuration and execution of scheduled backups.
- Help deploy applications, software, and operating systems across on-premises and AWS-hosted systems.
- Monitor systems and cloud resources, report issues, and troubleshoot under guidance.
- Perform backups and assist with disaster recovery procedures for both on-premises and AWS workloads.
- Maintain and update IT documentation, AWS resource inventories, and configuration records.
- Help ensure security, compatibility, and interoperability across systems and cloud services.
- Collaborate with the IT team to optimize cloud usage, monitor costs, and improve performance.
- Assist in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting web servers including:
- IIS for Windows-based applications and services
- Apache and NGINX for Linux-based or cross-platform workloads
- Enabling SSL/TLS certificates and HTTPS configurations
- Basic load balancing, reverse proxy, and virtual host setups
- Managing site configurations, logs, and access controls
Required Skills
- 3–4 years of experience in IT systems administration or technical support.
- Familiarity with Windows Server (Active Directory, MSSQL basics) and Linux.
- Working knowledge of IIS, Apache, and NGINX, with an understanding of common web hosting and security configurations.
- Basic-to-intermediate knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Route 53, AWS Backup).
- Understanding of IT security principles and general system management best practices.
- Exposure to scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for automation tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies.
- Clear communicator who thrives in a team-oriented environment.
Nice to Have
- AWS certification (Cloud Practitioner or higher).
- Experience with AWS CLI or SDKs.
- Familiarity with web application firewalls (WAF) and content delivery networks (CDN).
- Experience with application or systems monitoring tools.
- Understanding of cost optimization techniques in AWS.
