Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Technical Cost Modeling Lead to join our team. This key position will have the unique opportunity to enable Anduril to be a market leader in low-cost autonomous systems. The Air Dominance and Strike Division is one of Anduril’s fastest growing divisions. In this exciting role, this candidate will have the opportunity to reshape the way that the industry evaluates technical design, thinks about cost trades, and ultimately drive value through capabilities that will enable next generation technology. The candidate will create important cross functional relationships that will empower design decisions and be a catalyst for continuing Anduril’s unique approach to technical cost modeling. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving detailed cost models that accurately predict the costs associated with the conceptual design, production, and maintenance of complex technical products. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the cost analysis of technical designs, ensuring that all products are designed with cost-effectiveness, cost-tradeoffs, and budget constraints in mind. The Technical Cost Modeling Lead will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and finance, to ensure cost models are aligned with technical specifications and market conditions. The individual in this role will provide critical insights to support strategic decision-making, pricing strategies, and cost reduction initiatives.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and maintain sophisticated cost models to predict the costs of goods sold (COGS), including materials, labor, overhead, and other expenses.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to understand product designs and manufacturing processes to ensure cost models accurately reflect production complexities.
  • Analyze historical data and trends to improve the accuracy of cost models and forecasts.
  • Work with engineering, procurement, and suppliers to gather cost data and negotiate pricing where possible to optimize cost assumptions.
  • Provide detailed cost analyses and reports to support business cases, investment decisions, and pricing strategies.
  • Lead the cost modeling team in establishing best practices, methodologies, and tools for cost estimation and analysis.
  • Train and mentor team members in cost modeling techniques and tools.
  • Manage the integration of cost models with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and other financial software.
  • Support the continuous improvement of cost models by incorporating new technologies, materials, and manufacturing methods.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management to inform strategic decisions.
  • Monitor market trends and changes in technology that may impact cost assumptions.
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CCEA, CMA, etc.) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost modeling, financial analysis, or a related technical field.
  • Proven expertise in cost estimation techniques and methodologies for complex technical products or services.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with cost modeling tools and software (e.g., Excel, @Risk, Crystal Ball, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex cost issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience in leading and developing a team of cost analysts or similar roles.
  • Familiarity with engineering and manufacturing processes, as well as an understanding of the product lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and their integration with cost modeling tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment and influence decision-making across various levels of the organization.
  • The Technical Cost Modeling Lead is a key role that requires a combination of technical expertise, financial acumen, and strong leadership skills. The person in this position will be instrumental in driving cost efficiency and optimizing product pricing to achieve competitive advantage and profitability.
US Salary Range
$114,000$171,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
