Anduril’s Rocket Motor Systems is seeking a Chemical Technician to join our team. Rocket Motor Systems is creating next generation production of rocket motors and high-performance, next generation rocket fuel for platform superiority at Anduril. Anduril’s proprietary fuel composition, ALITEC, is the highest-performing solid rocket fuel in the world and dramatically increases the range and payload capacity of various launch systems, including missiles, hypersonics, space launch platforms, and various other systems utilizing solid propellant.
As a Chemical Technician, you will support the development of Anduril’s proprietary metal-powder fuel formulation to deliver through hands-on chemical and materials research and development. The right person for this role has hands-on skills in chemical and materials research and development. What You’ll Do
- Setup and conduct experiments under the supervision of a senior engineer.
- Conduct laboratory characterization and analysis using ICP and other methods.
- Document findings and implemented solutions. May be required to make brief technical presentations.
- Promote a high level of safety awareness and continuous improvement in safety practices.
- Contribute to project milestone completion and provide solutions to problems of limited complexity using standard techniques and methodologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in applied science, chemical technology, physical science, chemical, materials science, or metallurgical engineering, chemistry, or related fields.
- Attention to safety and detail in laboratory practices.
- U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various materials types and processing techniques (metals, ceramics, polymers, nanomaterials).
- Experience with materials characterization techniques and interpretation (ICP, gravimetric analysis, calorimetry, DSC, spectrometry, etc.).
- Experience with electron microscopy.
- Experience with air-sensitive materials handling and techniques.
- Experience with thin films and surface chemistry.
- Experience in the aerospace and defense industries.
- Familiarity with safe handling of metal powders.
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
