Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
The Motion Planning team at Anduril is developing planning algorithms and optimization techniques for aerial, aquatic and land-based platforms. Lattice Ghost UAS, Sentry Tower and our other autonomous platforms work in tandem to capture intelligence and fully map areas of interest. Our engineers implement algorithms that handle soft and hard motion constraints in complex environments to reliably produce safe motion paths. We apply discrete graph-based search and continuous trajectory optimization to generate effective mission plans and efficient motion profiles. Our planning algorithms must allocate multiple assets to accomplish collaborative tasks in an efficient manner.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Proven impact and expertise in autonomous systems, aerial or subsea
  • Experience working with graph search, trajectory optimization, planning under uncertainty, and/or optimal control
  • Past experience taking a project from problem formulation through implementation and deployment
  • Strong problem-solving and technical communication skills
  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases
  • A desire to work on critical software that has a real-world impact
  • Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance, preferably Top Secret

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field
  • Proficient in C++, Python, or additional object-oriented programming languages
  • Research experience in robotics and/or motion planning
  • Experience using probabilistic inputs for decision making
