This role:
We are seeking a technically skilled and analytically minded Senior Financial Systems Analyst to join our team. In this hybrid finance and accounting role, you will leverage your expertise in SQL, Python, Excel, and financial systems to enhance data automation, streamline reporting processes, and drive efficiency within our finance and accounting operations. This position is critical in supporting both our day-to-day accounting functions and long-term financial planning and analysis (FP&A) initiatives, providing robust data insights and process improvements that align with the company’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain automated solutions to streamline financial reporting, reconciliations, and forecasting processes.
- Develop custom SQL queries, Python scripts, and advanced Excel models to extract, transform, and analyze data from various financial systems.
- Collaborate with IT and finance teams to enhance data integration across systems, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- Support FP&A by creating and automating models for budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Develop and maintain dashboards to present key financial metrics, trends, and data insights for executive leadership.
- Conduct ad hoc financial analyses to support business initiatives and answer specific financial questions from finance and operational leaders.
- Partner with accounting, finance, and operational teams to identify areas for process automation and improvement.
- Document and implement new workflows to improve accuracy, reduce manual effort, and enhance reporting timelines.
- Act as a resource for technical questions related to finance data and analytics, offering guidance and training as needed.
- Serve as a power user and expert in SQL, Python, and advanced Excel to build efficient data workflows and reporting structures.
- Work closely with the finance team to improve financial system capabilities, recommending and implementing best practices for data management and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role with a strong technical focus.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and advanced Excel (VBA and macros preferred).
- Familiarity with ERP and FP&A systems (e.g., NetSuite, Planful) is a plus.
- Proven ability to build automated solutions and streamline complex financial processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI or Tableau).
- Experience in a SaaS environment or other high-growth, tech-driven industry.
- Certifications such as CPA, CFA, or CMA are a plus.
